The first week of the month is always a busy one in Hopewell Borough. Below is an overview of what’s happening:

Trash Pickup – Tuesday August 5

Tuesday is the regular trash pickup in the Borough. Please remember that trash containers should be covered and watertight to prevent mixing of rain/stormwater and placed at the curb between 3PM on Monday and 7AM Tuesday for pickup.

HTPD National Night Out – Tuesday August 5 (6PM to 8PM)

The Hopewell Township Police Department is hosting their annual free community event on August 5, 2025 from 6pm – 8pm at Stony Brook Elementary School.  Fun for the whole family with free food and music!  Enjoy face painting, video games, dunk tank, bounce house and fire trucks.

Mayor’s Office Hours – Wednesday August 6 (1PM)

Looking for another way to connect with our town? Generally held every other Wednesday afternoon at 1PM and every second Saturday morning of the month at 9AM, Borough Hall is open for drop in discussions with Mayor Kennedy. No appointments necessary. Any changes to the schedule will be posted to the Borough website.

Planning Board Meeting – Wednesday August 6

The Hopewell Borough Planning Board will meet on Wednesday August 6 at 7PM in person at Borough Hall, with an option to view the meeting via zoom (instructions can be found here). The agenda can be found below and additional information can be found on the Planning Board page here.

Borough Council Meeting – Thursday August 7

The August Borough Council meeting will be Thursday August 7 at 7PM. The meeting will be in person at Borough Hall with a zoom broadcast. Information on how to tune in (and comment) via zoom can be found here. As always, we look forward to getting input from you at the meeting, in person or via zoom. Highlights from this months’ meeting include introductions (first reading – public hearings will be held in September) of ordinances to address vacant / abandoned properties in the Borough, giving the Borough additional maintenance options for neglected properties, and additional funding authorizations for renovations of the public words facility. Additionally, following the meeting please join Council for an informal reception to meet our new Borough Administrator Jerry Giaimis.

Green Team Recycling Table at Hopewell Borough Farmer’s Market – Sunday August 10 (9am-1PM)

The Hopewell Valley Green Team will be at the Hopewell Farmer’s Market on Sunday, August 10th from 9AM-1PM. Come with your questions, and to recycle many hard-to-recycle items. New this month, they are collecting used cashmere – holes are fine! They will also be collecting: plastic film, cell phones and select small electronics, Brita water filters, empty/used dental care products, single-use razors, wine bottle corks, button cell batteries, used tennis & baseballs, and usable art supplies. Details on what is being collected can be found on the Green Team website under “Recycling Events.”

New Date for Water System Information Forum Coming Soon

A new date for the town hall info session on the water sale that was postponed from last week will be announced shortly. Thank you for your patience and understanding given the the state of emergency declaration last week that caused the postponement. The new date will be posted on the Borough website, email and social media and will also be mailed to residents. Information on the upcoming water system referendum can be found here.

Reminder: After Hours Public Works Emergencies Should be Reported to HTPD

If you encounter an emergency situation involving our water or sewer systems or other issues that involve our public works department, please report the issue to the Hopewell Township Police Department dispatch at 609.737.3100. HTPD has direct contact information for our department of public words team, depending on the type of issue.
