Hopewell Borough Zoning 

The Borough Zoning Officer is a part time employee tasked with the enforcement and approval of both residential and comercial applications under the Borough’s zoning ordinance. No construction permit shall be issued for the following activities unless and until a
zoning permit is issued by the Borough Zoning Officer. The following activities will
require a zoning permit:
(1) The construction, erection or alteration of any structure. A structure is defined by ordinance as a combination of materials to form a construction for occupancy, use or ornamentation whether installed on, above or below the surface a parcel of land. Improvements such as heating and cooling systems, plumbing and electrical systems, new siding, etc. shall not require a zoning permit.
(2) The change in the use of land, building or structure. Use is defined by ordinance as the specific purpose for which land or building is designed, arranged, intended or for which it is or may be occupied or maintained.


The Construction Code Official shall not issue a permit for any of the activities cited above unless and until the applicant has obtained a valid zoning permit from the Zoning Officer. A copy of an approved permit or approval letter shall suffice as proof of compliance. Forms and instructions for requesting a permit can be found below.
