The Hopewell Borough Pedestrian, Bicycle and Safety Advisory Committee (PBSAC) acts as an advisory body to the Borough Council on issues of pedestrian, traffic and bicycle safety and connectivity. The board is made of volunteer residents of the Borough and the surrounding area.

Committee Vision Statement (adopted 4/2022)

We are working for Hopewell Borough to be a pedestrian and bike friendly rural village, where:

  • parents can trust their responsible fifth-grader to safely walk or ride their bike to school and their friends’ houses
  • outdoor enthusiasts of all ages can easily access our parks and trails
  • everyone, including users of wheelchairs or mobility aids, can enjoy our shops and restaurants.

Committee Mission Statement (adopted 4/2022)

To research and recommend implementable strategies to eliminate all traffic fatalities and severe injuries, while championing the interests of everyone who walks, rides and drives in Hopewell Borough.

Committee Draft Report to Council on County Road Recommendations (January 2023)

PBSAC has issued its draft report of the committee’s recommendations to Council for safety and connectivity improvements on the County Roads in town (Broad Street, Louellen and Princeton Avenue). A full copy of the report as well as an executive summary of the committee’s recommendations can be downloaded below.

The committee will continue to accept comments and input from the public on their recommendations for inclusion in future updates, and will now begin recommendations for the remaining roads in town. Comments can be made at any one of their upcoming meetings.

The Committee and Borough Council are also pleased to be working with the Greater Mercer Transportation Management Association (GMTMA) and thank them for providing their recommendations and assistance.  A copy of the GMTMA’s May 2022 Safe Routes to School Travel Plan can be downloaded below:
