Voting Information

The November 3, 2020 general election will be held primarily by mail in ballot.

Hopewell Borough Resources for General Election

Due to the concerns surrounding COVID-19, Governor Murphy has ordered that the General Election in New Jersey to be held on November 3rd will be conducted primarily by Vote By Mail.  All active registered voters will receive a Vote By Mail ballot automatically.   You may vote via Provisional (paper) ballot on Election Day at Borough Hall (88 East Broad Street), or if you have a documented audio or visual disability you may have use of a voting machine. You can mail in ballots via US Post Office and postage will be pre-paid, or use our County’s new drop boxes that DO NOT go through the US Mail. The closest box to the Borough is at the Hopewell Township administration building.  For a full list of drop box locations across Mercer County, visit the County Clerk’s elections page.  You will also be able to drop off your ballot at your polling location on Election Day.

The deadline for mailing the ballots to the Mercer County Board of Elections is Election Day, November 3, 2020 (please make sure to get it postmarked to prove this mailing date). It will be counted only if it is received within seven (7) days of the Election under the Governor’s Executive Order #177.

The application to register to vote must be postmarked no later than October 13, 2020 to be eligible to vote in the November General Election.  The registration form can be completed online, or downloaded from or it can be picked up at the County Clerk’s office.
