For the week of September 14, the New Jersey American Water (NJAW) project on West Broad Street will continue Monday through Friday, weather permitting. NJAW will also begin work on the third phase of their meter pit upgrade/replacement program .
West Broad Street NJAW Project
As part of the New Jersey American Water (NJAW) project to install a new water main, West Broad Street this week will be detoured at Louellen (518) and Van Dyke Road – with local business and resident traffic only permitted during construction. Local businesses in the area remain open and can be accessed during the detour. If you are looking to access homes or businesses in the detour area, please advise the traffic control officers who will simply allow or make arrangements for your access. A project map showing the detours can be found below. This week’s construction includes changing over and replacing service connections which will result in a short service interruption and/or changes in pressure, with the possibility of discoloration or cloudy water. This is particularly likely on Tuesday when the new main is flushed – and any discoloration can be remedied by running the cold water for a few moments until it clears up. Individual service connections are done on a house by house basis and NJAW will be letting individual residents know when their connection will be updated.
NJAW Water Meter Replacement Project
As part of the New Jersey American Water (NJAW) project to install a new water meters, contractors will be working this week in the northeast portion of the Borough including Blackwell, Lafayette, Elm, Somerset, Hamilton, North Maple and parts of Railroad Place in the area show bleow. No road closures are anticipated and while none are planned, the work could involve limited water service interruptions or changes in pressure which may result discoloration or cloudy water which can be remedied by running the cold water for a few moments until it clears up.
