For the week of September 7, the New Jersey American Water (NJAW) project on West Broad Street will continue Tuesday through Friday, weather permitting (there will be no work on Monday the 7th for Labor Day). NJAW has completed the work around Hopewell Elementary School and there are no planned closures in that area of town.
West Broad Street NJAW Project
As part of the New Jersey American Water (NJAW) project to install a new water main, West Broad Street this week will be detoured at Louellen (518) and Van Dyke Road – with local business and resident traffic only permitted during construction. Local businesses in the area remain open and can be accessed during the detour. If you are looking to access homes or businesses in the detour area, please advise the traffic control officers who will simply allow or make arrangements for your access. This week’s construction will begin changing over and replacing service connections which will result in a short service interruption and/or changes in pressure, with the possibility of discoloration or cloudy water. This is particularly likely on Tuesday when the new main is flushed – and any discoloration can be remedied by running the cold water for a few moments until it clears up. Individual service connections are done on a house by house basis and NJAW will be letting individual residents know when their connection will be udpated.
NJAW Water Meter Replacement Project
Contractors have completed work on the meter pit/replacement project in the area around Hopewell Elementary School including Columbia Avenue, Seminary Avenue and South Maple – and no additional work is expected this week in those areas of the Borough.
