Update Sunday 9/3: The water restriction will be lifted at midnight Sunday 9/3. We ask that you use water in moderation until midnight, after which the restriction will be fully lifted. Thank you for your patience and cooperation!
Update Saturday 9/2 4:30PM: the NJAW water-main has been repaired but pressure to the interconnection serving the Borough has not yet been restored. Please continue to observe the emergency conservation measures at this time. Best information available suggests they may be lifted shortly, but it may not be until Sunday morning.
Original message: New Jersey American Water (NJAW) has experienced a major water-main break in the Princeton area which has interrupted approximately 60% of the water supply to Hopewell Borough. NJAW is working to repair the leak as quickly as possible, but does not know how soon service will be restored. Hopewell Borough’s one operating well cannot produce enough water to meet our demand and it is possible we could run out of water before NJAW restores water service to our system (possibly as soon as Saturday Morning).
We are asking everyone to conserve water as much as possible until service has been restored:
- LIMIT WATER USE TO COOKING AND ESSENTIAL USES (TOILETS, ETC.) ONLY
- AVOID DOING LAUNDRY UNLESS ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL
- NO OUTSIDE WATERING, WASHING CARS, ETC.
Please share this information with your neighbors and check the Borough Website and your email box (for those of you signed up for email alerts from the Borough) for further updates. The website will be updated when the service has been restored and water restrictions are lifted.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
