The first week of the month is always a busy one in Hopewell Borough. Below is an overview of what’s happening:
Trash Pickup – Tuesday March 3rd
Tuesday is the regular trash pickup in the Borough. Please remember that trash containers should be covered and watertight to prevent mixing of rain/stormwater and placed at the curb between 3PM on Monday and 7AM Tuesday for pickup.
Mayor’s Office Hours – Wednesday March 4th (1PM)
Looking for another way to connect with our town? Generally held every other Wednesday afternoon at 1PM and every second Saturday morning of the month at 9AM, Borough Hall is open for drop in discussions with Mayor Kennedy. No appointments necessary. Any changes to the schedule will be posted to the Borough website.
Planning Board Meeting – Wednesday March 4th (7PM)
The Hopewell Borough Planning Board will meet on Wednesday March 4th at 7PM in person at Borough Hall, with an option to view the meeting via zoom (instructions can be found here. Please note that testimony and comments to the Planning Board must be made in person during a meeting, and due to requirements of the Municipal Land Use Law, cannot be presented by email, letter or virtually). The agenda can be found below and additional information can be found on the Planning Board page here including documents, plans and reports related to active applications. Additional chairs and space will be made available during this meeting due to the expected increased interest and attendance. Prior meetings (including both February meetings) can be viewed on the Borough’s YouTube channel here.
Borough Council Meeting – Thursday March 5th (7PM)
The March Borough Council meeting will be Thursday March 5th starting at 7PM. The meeting will be in person at Borough Hall with a zoom broadcast. Information on how to tune in (and comment) via zoom can be found here. As always, we look forward to getting input from you at the meeting, in person or via zoom. The agenda can be found below and pending ordinances can be found here.
Highlights from this month’s meeting include: public hearings on several affordable housing ordinances, an ordinance to add members to our Board of Health and an ordnance to revise the hours of operation for cannabis businesses in the Borough; a presentation done in conjunction with the Borough’s outside advisers on the impact of PILOTs on our property taxes and introduction of an ordinance to allow liquor licenses for theaters, following a recent change in state law allowing them.
Borough Snow Removal Rules
Heartfelt thanks to all of our residents and businesses for their work to get cars off the streets and to shovel following the recent snow storm. Reminder that Hopewell Borough Code requires that owners,
occupants or tenants of all properties remove all snow or ice from their sidewalks within 12 hours of daylight after the snow has fallen. The full requirement from the ordinance is provided below and will be enforced if needed.
Special thanks again to our amazing Public Works team for being out yet again on multiple days and nights on a large snow storm!
Reminder: After Hours Public Works Emergencies Should be Reported to HTPD
If you encounter an emergency situation involving our water or sewer systems or other issues that involve our public works department, please report the issue to the Hopewell Township Police Department dispatch at 609.737.3100. HTPD has direct contact information for our department of public words team, depending on the type of issue.
