The first week of the month is always a busy one in Hopewell Borough. Below is an overview of what’s happening:
Borough Hall Closed Monday September 2

First Day of School for HVRSD – Tuesday September 2
Welcome back to all of our HVRSD students! Tuesday is the first day of school in Hopewell and the return of walking, biking and bused children to our streets and sidewalks. Please use extra caution and allow extra time for your committee this week as everyone adjusts their schedules. Due to plumbing issues at the High School, HVRSD has also announced an unexpected half day for CHS, so please be on the lookout for buses in the morning, at the end of the day and an extra set of bus drop offs around lunchtime.
East Broad Paving Resumes – Tuesday September 2
The County has informed the Borough that due to staffing shortages, the paving of East Broad Street from Elm Street to Greenwood Avenue will resume on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 9:00 AM, weather permitting. We have been in communication with our elementary school and while the timing should not interfere with first day of school activities – please plan some extra time to get to school. Thank you for your continued patience.
Trash Pickup – Tuesday September 2
Tuesday is the regular trash pickup in the Borough. Please remember that trash containers should be covered and watertight to prevent mixing of rain/stormwater and placed at the curb between 3PM on Monday and 7AM Tuesday for pickup. While no changes are currently planned, pease check the website if there are additional changes for trash pickup on East Broad Street due to the paving.
Planning Board Meeting – Wednesday September 4
The Hopewell Borough Planning Board will meet on Wednesday September 4 at 7PM in person at Borough Hall, with an option to view the meeting via zoom (instructions can be found here). Borough Council Meeting – Thursday September 5
The September Borough Council meeting will be Thursday September 5 7PM. The meeting will be in person at Borough Hall with a hybrid zoom broadcast option to watch or participate. Information on how to tune in via zoom can be found here. Please note that while Council will be meeting in closed/executive session at 6PM, the public portion of the meeting will start at the regular 7PM start time so please plan on arriving or attending then for regular business. As always, we look forward to getting input from you at the meeting, in person or via zoom. The agenda can be found below with and without the attachments and resolutions that will be discussed.
