The Borough is aware of a Winter Weather Advisory that is in effect for our area from 3:00 AM until 3:00 PM tomorrow, Tuesday February 13, 2024.  In anticipation of this winter event and expected snow fall, we ask for community assistance in removing vehicles from the roadway so our Public Works staff can properly clear the roads.

Update 10:15 Tuesday Feb 13, 2024: The MCIA has revised the recycling pickup, which is now rescheduled for Saturday February 17 due to the weather. Trash has been rescheduled to Wednesday February 14. Please bring in your cans when you can, and put them back out for Saturday pickup. Any further changes will be posted to the website and updated here. Thanks for your cooperation and patience!

Please be aware of the following Borough Codes and as always, thank you in advance for your cooperation

§ 7-3.7Parking Prohibited on Snow Covered Streets.

a. Whenever snow has fallen and the accumulation is such that it covers the street or roadway, an emergency shall exist, and no vehicle shall be parked on any street, roadway, or portion thereof. Such parking prohibitions shall remain in effect after the snow has ceased and until the streets have been plowed sufficiently and to the extent that parking will not interfere with the normal flow of traffic or impede the passage of ambulance, fire, or other emergency vehicles.

During this period of parking prohibition, vehicles may park in any municipal parking yard including those behind borough hall and at the railroad station.

b. Any unoccupied vehicle parked or standing in violation of this subsection shall be deemed a nuisance and a menace to the safe and proper clearing and removal of snow and regulation of traffic. Any police officer may provide for the removal of such vehicle. The owner shall pay the reasonable costs of the removal and storage which may result from such removal before regaining possession of the vehicle.

§ 3-5.1 Snow or Ice.

Owners, occupants or tenants of any property fronting on any street in the borough shall remove all snow and ice from the abutting sidewalks of such street to the curb or pavement edge or, in the event of ice which may be so frozen as to make removal impracticable, shall cause the same to be thoroughly covered with sand, ashes or other material to provide traction, within 12 hours of daylight after the snow has fallen or the ice has formed. Sidewalks shall be cleared to a width of three feet or the entire width of the sidewalk, whichever is less.

No owner, occupant or tenant of any premises abutting on any street or sidewalk shall throw, place, or deposit any snow or ice accumulated on private property into or upon any such street or sidewalk in the borough.
