In an effort to increase pedestrian safety awareness in the Borough, the Hopewell Township Police Department have been working with Borough official to a “Cops in Crosswalks” event this month around the intersection of Broad Street and Greenwood Avenue in Hopewell Borough. During the enforcement event, a plain clothes police officer will attempt to cross the street as a pedestrian. Other officers will be in the area to issue warnings or tickets if drivers do not obey pedestrian safety laws. There will be other events conducted in the months and should be a reminder that roads have many users, and that it is state law that motor vehicles must stop for pedestrians.
