For the week of August 17th the New Jersey American Water (NJAW) project on West Broad Street will continue Monday through Friday, weather permitting. The Elizabethtown Gas repaving work has been completed, other than final painting/striping which is not planned to require full road closures. NJAW will also continue their meter replacement program in the streets around Hopewell Elementary School, with no full road closures planned at this time.
West Broad Street NJAW Project
As part of the New Jersey American Water (NJAW) project to install a new water main, West Broad Street this week will be detoured at Louellen (518) and Van Dyke Road – with local business and resident traffic only permitted during construction. Local businesses in the area remain open and can be accessed during the detour. If you are looking to access homes or businesses in the detour area, please advise the traffic control officers who will simply allow or make arrangements for your access.
A project map showing the detours can be found below. This week’s construction will contline with the actual installation of the new water main, and while none are planned, could involve limited water service interruptions or changes in pressure which may result discoloration or cloudy water which can be remedied by running the cold water for a few moments until it clears up. No overnight work is planned for this week, and any future off hours work will be communicated more directly. If you live near the project area and did not receive texts or a robocall about the work – please sign up for alerts from NJAW:
Residents are strongly encouraged to sign up or log in to their MyWater account, update their contact information, and choose how they wish to receive project notifications. Individuals who are not New Jersey American Water account holders can sign up for alerts at AWCodeRed.com or by texting WATER to 24639. Keeping contact information current will help ensure customers receive important updates about construction projects, emergency notifications and future planned work.
