The first week of the month is always a busy one in Hopewell Borough. Below is an overview of what’s happening:

Road Construction and Detour Information For the Week

For the week of August 31st, two NJAW projects will continue in the Borough: 1) continued water main work on West Broad Street Monday through Friday and 2) meter and service line replacement work on Columbia, Seminary and South Maple Monday through Friday. First Day of School in Hopewell – Tuesday September 1st

It’s time in Hopewell Borough to welcome our kids back to school. With students returning to Hopewell Elementary and across the district on Tuesday for the first day of school, please be careful and watch for our walking and biking children and families, and take extra care for Timberlane and High School students who will be once again getting on their buses for another school year. Welcome back and best of luck for the upcoming year!

Trash Pickup – Tuesday September 1st

Tuesday is the regular trash pickup in the Borough. Please remember that trash containers should be covered and watertight to prevent mixing of rain/stormwater and placed at the curb between 3PM on Monday and 7AM Tuesday for pickup.

Mayor’s Office Hours – September 2nd (1PM)

Looking for another way to connect with our town? Generally held every other Wednesday afternoon at 1PM and every second Saturday morning of the month at 9AM, Borough Hall is open for drop in discussions with Mayor Kennedy. No appointments necessary. Any changes to the schedule will be posted to the Borough website.

Planning Board Meeting – CANCELED 

The September 2, 2026 Planning Board meeting has been canceled.  Additional information can be found in the sunshine notice below.  The agendas and additional information can be found on the Planning Board page here including documents, plans and reports related to active applications. Prior meetings (starting with the February 2026 meetings) can be viewed on the Borough’s YouTube channel here.

Borough Council Meeting – Thursday September 3rd(7PM) 

The September Borough Council meeting will be Thursday September 3rd starting at 7PM. The meeting will be in person at Borough Hall with a zoom broadcast. Information on how to tune in (and comment) via zoom can be found here. As always, we look forward to getting input from you at the meeting, in person or via zoom. The agenda can be found below and pending ordinances can be found here.

Highlights from this month’s meeting include a public hearing on an ordinance to adjust the fees collected by emergency services .  

This month represents the continued transition to a new agenda management system for the Borough, please stay tuned for additional improvements and Council and Borough staff look forward to hearing any suggestions or comments you may have.  When available, the agenda will be posted bellow: 

 

Reminder: After Hours Public Works Emergencies Should be Reported to HTPD

If you encounter an emergency situation involving our sewer systems or other issues that involve our public works department, please report the issue to the Hopewell Township Police Department dispatch at 609.737.3100. HTPD has direct contact information for our department of public words team, depending on the type of issue.  Emergency issues with drinking water should be reported to New Jersey American Water at 1 (800) 272-1325.  Residents are encouraged to sign up for phone and text alerts about water service from NJAW here
