The annual Borough-wide yard sale weekend is coming up (June 13th and 14th), which is followed by the a bulk trash pick-up. The Hopewell Valley Green Team has provided some tips to help everyone be mindful when you leave things on the curb, to help avoid items that could be reused or recycled from ending up at the landfill. The Green Team website has a long list of ways to re-home usable items you no longer need, and a guide for recycling many items that are no longer usable. If you are hoping someone will take your free items from the curb directly and re-home them, please keep the following things in mind:
- Put them out during the yard sale weekend June 13 & 14 when someone is more likely to see them. Don’t wait until Monday night unless they really are trash!
- Don’t let items get ruined in the rain. Cover furniture with a tarp or plastic if needed.
- If no one picks up your usable items, box them up and call for a donation pickup, or take to a donation location. See the Green Team Re-Home Guide for many convenient local options.
