The first week of the month is always a busy one in Hopewell Borough. Below is an overview of what’s happening:
Trash and Recycling Pickup – Tuesday June 2nd
Tuesday is the regular trash and recycling pickup in the Borough. Please remember that trash containers should be covered and watertight to prevent mixing of rain/stormwater and placed at the curb between 3PM on Monday and 7AM Tuesday for pickup.
Planning Board Meeting – CANCELED
The June 3, 2026 Planning Board meeting has been canceled. Additional information can be found in the sunshine notice below. The next Board meeting will be on June 10th at 7PM at the Hopewell Elementary School.

Borough Council Pride Flag Ceremony – Thursday June 4th (6PM)
Please join the Hopewell Borough Mayor and Council as we celebrate Pride Month with the first-ever Hopewell Borough Pride Flag raising ceremony on Thursday, June 4th at 6 p.m. in front of Borough Hall, 88 E. Broad Street, Hopewell, NJ 08525, prior to the regular Borough Council meeting at 7PM.
Community members, allies, and visitors are warmly invited to gather in the spirit of unity, support as we celebrate diversity, inclusion, and the vibrant LGBTQ+ community within our town and beyond. As the rainbow flag is raised, it serves as a symbol of hope, love, and acceptance for all. Join us in honoring Pride Month and standing together for equality and respect.
Borough Council Meeting – Thursday June 4th (7PM)
The June Borough Council meeting will be Thursday June 4th starting at 7PM. The meeting will be in person at Borough Hall with a zoom broadcast. Information on how to tune in (and comment) via zoom can be found here. As always, we look forward to getting input from you at the meeting, in person or via zoom. Highlights from this month’s meeting include proclamations in recognition of: Tourette’s Syndrome Awareness, Pride Month, Hopewell Valley Mayors awards for our First Responders, the 100th Anniversary of Hopewell Elementary School, Gun Violence Awareness and the upcoming Tamerlane Middle School Witness Stones project. The public hearing on the proposed four-way stop at the corner of Columbia and Seminary is expected to be carried again and continued into the July meeting pending receipt of additional information from the Borough’s professionals.
This month represents the continued transition to a new agenda management system for the Borough, please stay tuned for additional improvements and Council and Borough staff look forward to hearing any suggestions or comments you may have.
Hopewell Valley Mayors First Responder Awards – Saturday June 6th (11AM)
The Hopewell Valley 3rd Annual Mayors’ Awards for First Responders will take place on June 6, 2026, from 11 AM to 1 PM at Woolsey Park. This special event recognizes the dedication, courage, and service of our local first responders who go above and beyond for our community every day. Please join all three Hopewell Valley municipalities as we recognize first responders from across the Valley, including Hopewell Fire and EMS and thank you to Hopewell Township for organizing and including the entire community in this special event.
Hopewell’s Celebration of American’s 250th Anniversary – Saturday June 6th (4PM)
Hopewell Borough will commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the 135th Anniversary of Hopewell Boroughs incorporation with a day full of activities, focused on our history, plus music, food, and fun. The day will start at 4pm with the Town Crier kicking off the free event: enjoy living history demonstrations, pioneer games and crafts, and a guided walk through the cemetery highlighting John Hart’s contribution to our country’s founding. Then at 6pm, enjoy a community BBQ dinner catered by Brick Farm Tavern for $2.50 per person, and a beer garden for $20 per person (must be 21 years of age) and live music by Castle Lane.

Reminder: After Hours Public Works Emergencies Should be Reported to HTPD
If you encounter an emergency situation involving our water or sewer systems or other issues that involve our public works department, please report the issue to the Hopewell Township Police Department dispatch at 609.737.3100. HTPD has direct contact information for our department of public words team, depending on the type of issue.
