Contractors working with the Borough water department started the replacement of the pump at Well No. 4 this week, a repair that should in the short term increase production at the well which is the source of about 40 to 50% of our drinking water. During the process, there will be no change in water service, quality or availability – but the Borough will be purchasing all of its water from the New Jersey American Water (“NJAW”) interconnection rather than sourcing water from our own well. While there will be sufficient water throughout the replacement process for the Borough’s needs, we ask that you consider conservation measures between Tuesday (4/16) through and ending Saturday (4/20) to help avoid extraneous system water purchases from NJAW while the well is being upgraded. Postponing heavy usage activities like washing cars or watering lawn until Sunday can help reduce our use of the NJAW purchased water during the next few days.
This is not an emergency nor do we anticipate any interruption in service. However, are asking our customers to consider conserving water for the next 3 days until Well No. 4 is back in service (late Saturday 4/20), to minimize the amount of water we have to buy from New Jersey American Water.
